FAMA Asian Championships 2010
The Uzbekistan Muaythai Federation was host of the 2010 open Asian Championships
in the beautiful capital city of Tashkent.
The event under the umbrella of the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) and Federation of Amateur Muaythai Asia . The event received maximum praises from all participating countries for its highest standard of hospitality and organization.
All athletes’, officials and VIPs stayed in the beautiful Uzbekistan Hotel and the event ran smoothly from opening to closing. The opening ceremony was presided over by the Sports Minister of Uzbekistan and the IFMA President, and the closing by the Mayor of Tashkent and IFMA's President.
FAMA General Secretary Mervyn Tan thanked the President of the Uzbekistan Muaythai Federation for all the hard work that went into organising this oustanding event, while IFMA's General Secretary praised not just the high standard of competition, but also the cultural exchange which was so well integrated into this championships. 
Welcome party
A special welcome party was held for all participants in which all visitors were introduced to the friendly hospitality of Uzbekistan. 
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony was held in Tashkent’s beautiful National stadium. It was a fantastic mix of Uzbekistan culture and also other Martial arts such as Taekwondo, Wushu, Judo, Wrestling & Karate were part of the opening. As this was the last big test for everyone before the upcoming SportAccord Combat Games in Beijing, the opening ceremony sent a clear message that all recognised martial art and combat sports have been working so closely together to make the Beijing Games possible.
H.E. the Sports Minister of Uzbekistan welcomed all participants and wished them a wonderful stay. The President of IFMA congratulated the Uzbeskistan Muaythai Federation for the great success. The President of Uzbekistan Muaythai Federation and Vice President of FAMA Mr Tohmatov Sherzod said that this is a very proud moment for Uzbekistan Muaythai and indeed for everyone in Uzbekistan.
Closing ceremony
A big crowd came to the closing day to watch the final highly anticipated matches to determine who would be the overall team champion. There were some very close encounters with Uzbekistan winning the overall trophy. Kazakhstan won the fairness award and Afghanistan received the most improved team award, which shows without doubt that muaythai is progressing all over Asia. Best Wai Khru went to Thailand's Wrayut Komchan, best prospect to Singapore's Abdul Samad and best boxer to Uzbekistan Kholmurdov Firdavs.
